Stattpad ("we", "our", or "us") is a sports performance and team management app for athletes, coaches, and student captains. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account & Profile Information

Name and email address (required to create an account)
Role: Athlete, Coach, or Student Captain
Sport, position, school or university, and bio (optional)
Profile photo (optional, uploaded from your device's photo library)
Athlete-specific: foot preference, academy/club name
Coach-specific: license level and years of experience

Sports & Performance Data

Match records: goals, assists, opponent, date, and score
Training sessions: attendance, performance notes, drill type, intensity, and session date/time
Team memberships and roster information
Coach endorsements you receive or give

Social & Community Data

Posts, images, likes, and comments you create on the app
Follow relationships (who you follow and who follows you)
In-app notifications (e.g. new follower, match verified)

Device & Usage Data

We use Firebase (Google) as our backend infrastructure. Firebase may automatically collect standard technical data such as device type, operating system version, and app crash reports as part of its core service.
We do not actively log analytics events or track user behaviour beyond what Firebase collects by default.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To display your profile, team, and performance data to you and (where appropriate) your coaches or team members
To send in-app notifications relevant to your activity
To improve the app and fix issues

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your data only with the following parties and only to the extent necessary to operate the app:

Firebase / Google — our database, file storage, and authentication provider. Data is stored in Google's cloud infrastructure. See Firebase's Privacy Policy.
Other app users — your profile name, sport, position, school, bio, and profile photo are visible to other Stattpad users. Posts you share publicly are visible to your followers. Performance data is visible to coaches in your team.

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

4. Photo Library Access

Stattpad requests access to your device's photo library only when you choose to upload a profile photo or share an image in a post. We do not access your photos at any other time, and we do not scan or analyse your photo library.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information from our systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6. Children's Privacy

Stattpad is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Access & correction — you can view and update your profile information at any time within the app.
Deletion — you may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
Photo permissions — you can revoke photo library access at any time in your device's Settings.

8. Data Security

We use Firebase's built-in security features, including Firestore Security Rules and Firebase Authentication, to protect your data. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
